Dogs days of summer

Those days brighter
could be just
a newborn’s smile…

When the Sirius rose
Roman
sacrificed
a brown dog
to appease the rage
of the star,
they believe
it caused of
the hot, sultry
weather…

Start
a new day
lifting up
the chin…
morning breeze
will fill you in,
early bird
soars high
above the pine tree,
cider
needles’re
penetrating sky,
growing in the mist
cathedral domes
finding their way to light...

fragile stories-
all reflected
in the rippled lake,
through the
drifting lilies
life emerges –
ducks with
ducklings follow
the path,
filling with the quacks
air and our hearts.

  9. ...I wonder what the Romans thought when the days remained hot! ? I liked your use of "fragile" as summer is a balance, isn't it? So much could disturb the peacefulness...
