The thought

painting by Rubens Peale

I had the thought
hasn’t reached the pen
hasn’t made to field
of lines and spaces
tides and ebbs.

Its flesh filled fall
drifts in the holy mist
light cloud
above abyss’
hidden secrets.

Tamed magpie
hazelnut eye pass
a glitter ring in the beak
who dares to lost
the last word to speak…

  6. I like what you found in these words. Yes, sometimes it is difficult and the thoughts grow lean, but then there are those other times when we seemed to blessed, as you were with these words,

  7. Hazelnut eyes - wonderful description. Sometimes it is indeed difficult but how blessed we are when the prompt prompts us and gives us voice or something we see or hear spurs us on.

  15. thoughts can be as fleeting as a bird... and those eyes... sometimes you can feel the eyes of a thought long after it has disappeared already...nice interweaving here...

  17. Thoughts, like this bird, steal in and fill and fall--or steal food with the prize ring glinting within its grasp. Very fine.
