painting by Rubens Peale
I had the thought
hasn’t reached the pen
hasn’t made to field
of lines and spaces
tides and ebbs.
Its flesh filled fall
drifts in the holy mist
light cloud
above abyss’
hidden secrets.
Tamed magpie
hazelnut eye pass
a glitter ring in the beak
who dares to lost
the last word to speak…

It seems even a tame magpie cannot cease to steal...
ReplyDeleteI like the magpie's hazelnut eye. Cool.
ReplyDeleteYou make it all sweetly mysterious.
ReplyDeleteI understand thoughts not reaching the pen! This definitely happens sometime.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the thoughts won't come through, or like the bird we steal one or two.
ReplyDeleteI too like the description of hazelnut eyes...sometimes the words can be hard to find but, I think you found a way...
ReplyDeleteI like what you found in these words. Yes, sometimes it is difficult and the thoughts grow lean, but then there are those other times when we seemed to blessed, as you were with these words,

Hazelnut eyes - wonderful description. Sometimes it is indeed difficult but how blessed we are when the prompt prompts us and gives us voice or something we see or hear spurs us on.
ReplyDeleteWell done!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful prose.
ReplyDelete" who dares to lost, the last word to speak " - strangely prophetic
ReplyDeleteThieving magpies are much like us doing anything to survive.
ReplyDeleteExcellent!

thoughts can be as fleeting as a bird... and those eyes... sometimes you can feel the eyes of a thought long after it has disappeared already...nice interweaving here...
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed.. I’m at a loss for words today.. again☺
ReplyDelete"Hazel nut eye" - love that!
ReplyDeleteThoughts, like this bird, steal in and fill and fall--or steal food with the prize ring glinting within its grasp. Very fine.
ReplyDeleteOne gets distracted and lose momentum. Thoughts may just fizzle away sometimes. Truly said humbird!
