Yesterday

ink5000 ~ deviantart.com

He holds sun in one hand,
moon – in another,-
lighted up candles,
to find rushed off
yesterday;
prodigal vagabond
settled in the tavern
grieving yet smiling
with tears…

Suddenly he roars
in the ceiling,
(making the gravel
outside to sound
a treasure like),
followed by longing
whisper…

and we learn: there are
no two lives alike,
‘there is no prophet
in our homeland…’

  2. This brings to mind the image of a clown's tears. The contrast between joy and sorrow enhance the portrait,

  5. An interesting play on the saying. And we never really know what is going on in the mind of the other, until we do -- or they snap. I know that vagabond.

  6. No prophets just a bunch of wannabes pretending as they please.

  7. Prophesy can be overrated or manipulative anyway. A strong poetic that gives a sterling take on the prompt without forgetting it is a poem, rife with mystery & catch phrases.

  10. Yes, until we snap and then we find out what is going on behind those smiles. Joy and sorrow - wonderful job on this.

  13. Wonderfully inspired antitheses--especially like the roar and whisper that seems so to characterize our lives. Victoria (my wordpress acct won't post!)

  22. What are the consequences, I wonder, of having no prophet in one's homeland? Are the people doomed to go astray? Or must they make a way in the wilderness where there seems to be no way?

    1. O dear, of course, the answer - whatever you think....no prophet as everyone able to be his/her own prophet....also, this is again(history loops) ....our nearsightedness to see ...a talent, a gift in our closer one..... ~ Thanks for interesting words!
