To the artist

based on the poem by M.V.Lomonosov (1711-1765), the scientist,
the founder of the first Russian university, the poet

Master, draw my beloved,
draw her black hair lying
with the incense of perfume,
if there is such way.

Give the roses in blood
of her snow white face,
draw the arches,
inviting along the high brow.

Draw her heavenly eyes
with wisdom of goddess,
show Venus-like look,
burning up with low flame.

So, the prophesies speech
with no words flow as honey
from the beautiful lips,
so attractive to me.

Place the sweetness in chin,
and around the neck,
give the lilies bloom
in the delicate color.

Wear long scarlet dress
with the sleeves and collar,
little neckline to see,
and guessing the rest.

If the image is strong,
I will see you as real...
I see you, my light!
Dear portrait, please, talk...

  1. Your portrayal of her portrait, captured with such imagery using words with clever placement, and colour too. I do enjoy this type of poetry where one can almost feel and see the subject, as you have done here. Do you have many other pieces in similarity to this one. Would love to read them?.
