Khalil Gibran ~ autoportret ~ 1911
…While reaching the hilltop they began to climb and
dance,
tired lambs
turned in painless…
Once discovered, the path was already on the other
side
of threshold of mind…
Deeper song
when life and death are one
sea between souls
* Note: written for d'Verse Haibun Monday2, hosted by Bjorn, inspired by Khalil Gibran quotes.
That joy of crossing the hilltop, uphill turning downhill, new vistas ahead. I like how you tie it into a metaphor for death in the haiku, very good.
ReplyDeleteA haunting fragment.

ReplyDeleteIs that what they call being over the hill? lol

ReplyDeleteI love the set up for those three great lines also - deep and knowing, for sure... Telling work that is beautifully done.. Good for my soul too! With Best Wishes Scottie x
ReplyDeleteHow wonderfully you tied life and death together with no morbidity. Wonderful write! Spencer is Kanzensakura
ReplyDeleteI believe in the continuum of soul energy, so this poem resonates well with my own views, death as a transition, doorway, new journey to a familiar place.
ReplyDelete"sea between souls"...has a somehow romantic feel to it. And I do believe that life and death is a continuous thread, intertwined.
ReplyDeleteWhen you reach the top of the mountain,
ReplyDeletekeep on climbing.
There will always be new heights to reach,
new depths to plumb.
The haiku is especially amazing! Wow - one sea between souls.......
ReplyDeleteOnce discovered, the path was already on the other side
ReplyDeleteof threshold of mind…
The beauty of having achieved something is a joy forever. The mind is set for satisfaction!
