Winter blues

The winter comes again
the old girlfriend
so arrogant and cold

the snow swans pack
is winging in the sky,
my head in blues...

the sounds promising
and gaily snow flaking
the reindeer song of

the summer flirty
flicker fall at frosty
bottom of heart well...

the pensive artist
painted with whimsy
laces thoughtlessly

so neatly covered
the memory of
fairy telling days...

The Legend

Pulling strings/many hearts,
his heart opens to give,
to sink into music
Jacuzzi, release the
burden of life, to heal
the wounds, where it hurts.

At first, voice not strong,
not his voice, the guitar
solo touching the air,
testing the walls and
material values,
volumes of love returns.

Soul aligned in his wealth
with purpose, he amazes,
brings charisma, connects
all in one, quotes to put
hands together and
follow him in one breath.

Eyeful

Pack brains in trains
torture not the flesh
worn liquor uniform
lust lasts under
hypnosis

hypnotizing gimmicks
slash-smash
with lotion,
tease low emotion of
body machine

truth seen by discerning eye.

Projection

 Art by Bob Gregory
Art by Bob Gregory

He arrived to me late
I mean: his body was here
at the bench
feet on the floor
hands on piano
but the soul –somewhere else.

Sort of – his dad:
the computer he worked on
while the boy has been studying
was forgotten.
I offered the magazine
at the sofa.

No notebook with homework
No second book with new songs.
The student played well
the part of the homework song
though…

-Are you playing every day as we talked?
-No.
-Have you included the piano study in your schedule? (me trying to stay calm)
-Not yet.
-What are you doing after school?
-A homework.
-Do you know that the right hemisphere of brain responsible for music and math, left – for language? So playing piano after school could be beneficial for your growth, nice change for the brain, feeling-good experience.
- Oh?- thinking.

Who knows? Will he try?
At the door I thank him
for bringing the head
at the shoulders.
Laughing…
All of it reminds of Gianni Rodari
fiction story about the boy
who loosing his body parts
along the way;
they being delivered to his mom
at home by strangers.
At the end of the day
she needs just put pieces
together. Light assembly required.
Sigh.

Did I just watch my reflection?..

Metamorphosis

Twinkling snowflakes,
sun wipes
the window.

Wide smears
of mood/ weather
painting.

See. Hark. Thaw.

Slow motion
birds
practice
Philip Glass
‘Metamorphosis’.

It strokes me
with mock / muack(ing)
sounds –
a platitude?

Solitary
winter plot,
a hint to soar
till the last
melodic 3rd…

Steady

not my  student

'Play steady', - aka 'live steady'. In balance.
Is it possible? Who can...
He's trying to follow my instruction -
to raise the wrist while climbing 'roll ups'
with fingers, cheeks getting blush (anger?),
eyes – pregnant of tears, boiling...
oh, boy...- 'please, go wash your face',
(and all fear), - I send him to bathroom (my student)...
so many times praying: 'don't take
my advise too close...we're working...
mastering skills...scales are tricky...
you have to be ready to walk along
invisible line – to sound steady...'

Lullaby

Lullaby for Susie,
smooth candle light,
soothing bath hides
all wounds,
heart cries
and bounces-
waves
in move mode,
to fill the
 anguish,
rid of  havoc,
invites
dream’s power
to care, to inspire
sweet reverie -
allowed,
for insomnia-
time to bow out

Bad weather

My translation (Russian) of the song "Bad weather"
from the movie "Mary Poppins, Goodbye".
Music: Alla Pugacheva, Vadim Lotkin.
Lyrics: Irina Pavlyutkin.

The changes with weather
happen from year to year,
bad weather now - in fashion,
bad weather, bad weather.
As if from the plumbing pipes
heaven water's pouring on us:

Refrain:
six months of bad weather,
half a year - just nowhere,
six months of bad weather,
half a year - just nowhere at all.

Nowhere, nowhere we hide,
but life couldn't be delayed.
Nowhere, nowhere, but right
there someone is looking for you
among the rain.

Ominous thunder's rumbling
from sunset to sunrise,-
a fee for the human sins,
bad weather, bad weather.
Not sore throat, cold or virus -
more serious trouble:

Refrain.

Fly away, the cloud

My translation of the song "Fly away, the cloud" (1979).
Music and lyrics by V. Reznikov (1952-1992)

Fly away, cloud,
fly away, cloud,
fly away!
Fly away cloud,
oh, fly away…

Wind with cloud tête–à–tête
talked while blowing its around:
my desire, oh cloud,
could you guess?
don't you see the world without you-
better place, - fly away, oh cloud,
don't delay, oh cloud,
fly away!

If there were no more concerns,
than to chase after you! -
hurry up and pour with rain,
then melt away.
If I stay with you someway
my friend sail will become unvaried
fly away, oh cloud
fly away!

 All the hardships, sorrow
envelop with cotton wool,
take with you anxiety
and sadness
for no grief to all had happened,
for the sun be never blacked-
fly away, oh cloud,
fly away!

Unconditionally...

You hide
your Universe
under a garment,
made of cloth
unique curve
of fractal figure
each part of which
has the same
character as the
whole – bewitched!

You’ve touched
my Universe
unconsciously,
your breath flushed
my cheeks,
my soul
from faraway creek,
where you’re flying
with tailwind
fanning the wing,
carrying an essence
into depth of spring…
you’ve touched me unconditionally…

Starry bridge

Music: A.Zatsepin, Lyrics (Russian): L.Derbenev, "31 of June" - fantastic two-part
musical TV movie based on the eponymous novel by John B. Priestley (1978).
Below is my translation of the song from this movie "Starry bridge".

Heavenly lights are floating
along immense starlike road,
over the deep black abyss,
forming a starry bridge for us.

Refrain:
We are among the stars and darkness
each other found in unthinkable sky dust
for the Milky Way to become someday
the road of eternal love!

Everything may ends suddenly,
you do not lose me in the twinkling stars,
won't be destroyed by loneliness
our starry bridge again.

Refrain.

Let Dipper bucket, Big Dipper
melted slowly faded away.
Let's hope that Starry bridge
will help to love, will sway...

Refrain.

Promenade

I turned light off,
closed my eyes,
gave the thought
a time to relax,

don't feel regret,
agree with myself,
what else I could get
behind my cell.

The time 'to throw
the stones' has run,
before I know,
my friend, I'll be gone.

So, walk in my garden
with no doubt.
The better collection yet
hidden in heart...
