One pink tulip of my Valentine bouquet
lean forward peering in an open screen
of laptop:
One drop of wine matter…
One drop of tar…
One tear adds a content…
Helps to evolve
over successive
generation…
Glasses dropped…
Unfocused eyes met
genuine vis-à-vis
glance of surprise...
Am I sober now?
I hope so, or she may be drinking tar! Ha! HA!
ReplyDeleteHahaha... Make me smile. Ths. x
Deletewhat a cool picture.. the rose in the center is clear and the rest looks like it is shattering....interesting ingredient list in that second stanza.....the wine, the tears, the tar (holding it together, maybe)...the double play on sober as well in the end is nice...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Brian...I was inspired by quotes and idioms...'a spoon(ful) of tar spoils a jar of honey,' ~ the Russian proverb ...equal I think to eng. 'Fly in the ointment' ...but you're right about double play..
DeleteCon'-tent, con-tent' and sober, too, can be seen as two ... but unfocused eyes could be day-dreaming or passing out, waking or falling asleep. I read it as a nodding out--because I have done that many times over an email in the scent of a gifted rose--and a wakening to surprise revelation. Hmm. Why do we see wholeness amid the speed of matter?
ReplyDelete...maybe especially now it's more easy to do, no time to see the only one side or only one detail...also , everything is connected and moving in spiral...there are all variations of everything in air....bank of ideas and ways. The outcome we go with depends on what level we vibrate...what we able to attract...~ Thanks for such thoughtful prompt, Susan!
DeleteAre we all ever sober? This made me smile, the ingredients and essence of life.
ReplyDeleteIt's relatively to something else. No absolute truth, right? ~ Thanks for your comment, Alan!
DeleteWho wants to be sober anyway?
ReplyDeleteMostly - a cat at his mat :)
Deletethis made me smile
ReplyDeleteHi Sheilagh...I'm content with that. :)
DeleteThought of a recipe, ingredients mixed, with a questionable result..
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed
Ingredients' mix done by visitors-readers, I was just thinking about familiar idioms related to theme...thanks
DeleteThat is an amazing picture! I think if one has to ask themselves if they are sober... maybe they are not? Or is it like being crazy - if you ask yourself, then you're not? ;)
ReplyDeleteWell...the image of glasses carries on some stereotype of seriousness but from other side...pretending, don't you think? and then if you ask yourself means you know possibility 50/50 or not? ...your answer up to you :) Thanks
DeleteSound pretty sober to me, but then yet again.....
ReplyDeleteExactly! Thank you, Keith!
DeleteInteresting ingredients, the wine, the tar, the tear. Well done, Irene!
ReplyDelete:)x
DeleteI love the shattered bouquet. A rather surprising Valentine
ReplyDeletefelt as if, as the reader, i was in the moment
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I wonder if there was more than one drop of wine. I like the way the poem progressed. The question at the end makes the reader contemplate.
ReplyDeletethe last stanza appears to be a new beginning...nice thought provoking lines...
ReplyDeleteA recipe for love..maybe being a little un-sober when compiling such a thing is a good idea :) magical and fragrant...
ReplyDeleteYes love feels like that at times.
ReplyDeleteexquisite !
ReplyDeleteLovely poem. The ingredients of the past, can sober us or keep us a little drunk. Thought provoking write.
ReplyDeletethere's both in this - the vibrancy and weight (in a good way) of falling in love..
ReplyDeleteI like the way the flower appears to be shattering and going in all directions. Having a moment with someone can make us feel that way a bit I think. Especially if we're not quite sober. Very interesting write, in a good way :)
ReplyDeleteYes, hopefully she is, smiles ~
ReplyDeleteSobering thoughts !
ReplyDeletePerfect to pair with this image!
ReplyDeleteAm I sober? Well, if you need to ask...
ReplyDeleteInteresting .. a different valentine? indeed.. great verse
