My hand seems heavy
at your brow,
I sense the tension…
Marky clouds, mates
at neighborhood you move
away soon
worrying of fitting in…
You’re lying drained
Coursing roots,
The parents, mothering
too long to try your
own brain & blood
still rained on the path,
the ghosts are lurking
in the shadows through
leaves, mute voices
clanging on the twigs…
Till bathed in the lotus
curved pose, you breathe
relentlessly, releasing
blocks and blames
through capillaries
and veins – inhaling
heavenly poured bliss…
The dark intentions
drowning deeply
fertilizing sprouts
feast…
feast…
* The line of poem 'Night' by Wole Soyinka.
i feel the release, finding the peace after letting go
ReplyDeleteworking out those blocks...
The heaviness released sometimes we will not find it unless we really run...
ReplyDeleteYou chose a very emotive line.. and search the reaches of emotion in your lines.
ReplyDeleteI like the inhalation of the heavenly poured bliss ~ The dark intentions can melt away ~
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up with Real Toads and wishing you happy weekend ~
I experience strongly the underlying darkness of this poem.
ReplyDeleteGood, bad, dark, bright all hand in hand.
ReplyDeleteblocks and blames through capillaries and veins... so interesting.
ReplyDeleteRelease a block and blame and can make a new claim
ReplyDeleteThe concluding lines are amazing....a blissful, transformative experience! Love this ..enlightenment is something wonderful. :)
ReplyDeleteAh yes, a nail biting poem, and it's supporting image all vividly clear!
ReplyDeleteThank heavens for the lotus position, and the pathway to inner peace, despite all the lurking murkiness. Nicely done!!
ReplyDeleteI like the resolution and transformation at the end very much.
ReplyDeleteI feel the dark undertones lurking and the soft release...
ReplyDeleteDonna@LivingFromHappiness
dark emotional imagery, expressive an engaging. love it!
ReplyDeleteAnd who said the plot, the mood, the imagery of a whole novel couldn’t be so creatively portrayed with a few choice words….. Wonderful
ReplyDeleteAlthough there is release, there is a hint that the darkness is not quite done yet. Reminded me of the lyrics in a Peter Gabriel song: "The darkness still has work to do.."

Cool! Thanks, Elizabeth, I like the idea of the video. Not done, but we're aware...
Deleteinhaling
ReplyDeleteheavenly poured bliss…
The dark intentions
drowning deeply... those are moving words.
This seems to me a poem about the benefits of meditation--and a very apt one. Thanks. k. (Manicddaily)
ReplyDeleteThis is my interpretation too.
Deletewriter's bloc? i am thinking to a sort of metaphor.
ReplyDeletethe heaviness will surely disappear once we find inspiration or way to escape it
Yes, that seems right....still there is darkness....
ReplyDeleteSometimes even the kindest hands can't wipe away another's darkness and yet it will always be welcome and remembered... xo
ReplyDeleteWe'll always have to face darkness at different times. And it is up to us to pull ourselves out of it. It's nice to have a helping hand to tell us that we're not alone. I like to think that it helps to remember that the darkness serves a great purpose. That purpose is to make us stronger. When we allow it, we can always find the joy or the glimmer of light to help us along the way.
ReplyDeleteThe entirety feels so organic...I love this portion:
ReplyDelete"Till bathed in the lotus
curved pose, you breathe"
Excellent poem.
An amazing take on the line, and here am I reading it a seventh time. The words are densely placed as in Soyinka's poems, and I am not certain I understand them nor why I am pulled back here again and again. I feel the impediments within this person, within two people, who seek some solice together. So much arises when love contradicts old messages. Powerful piece.
ReplyDeletethe tension def. can be felt in this...
ReplyDeleteVery emotive and powerful...
ReplyDeleteThe dark undertone is mysterious yet something that many can relate with. Wonderful words.... :-)
