Sketchy

photo by Mona Bouzarout ~ In memory of a man ~ flickr

You looked in the mirror
learning what is beyond
facial features…

Like the hand on the weight
scale, the head bouncing
leaned to the left or right.

You smile, then surprisingly
raise the brows,
learning how to think
a thought, perhaps.

Pulled corners of lips
and breathed fast,
exhaling on face
the mirror showed you…

Steamy, reflection
will puzzle us,
finger so many chances
to find real face…

  2. our real face goes well beyond skin deep...
our reflection will fool us, if that is all we rely upon to inform us...

  3. Almost like a wee child trying to outline their mother's face! That is a great capture very mysterious!

  5. Your opening lines are a great lead-in to your poem.

  7. I like the imagery portrayed. Time spent looking into a mirror is so personal, yet with the wonderment of how others see ourselves as much as what we discover each time.

Yes, it can be destructively deceptive. One can be fooled even without words spoken if not careful. Bad intentions are preceded with lots of sweet words at least but facials are mysterious! Great lines humbird!
