Art by W. T. Benda
Eternal sleep
your sparkling eyes
closed.
The angels, friends
weeping
the loss.
Long-awaited peace
reigned over
your feet.
Countless lives…
this role
completed.
A beautiful dancer,
the rickshaw, clowness,
the teacher & healer
Drawn to feast
sunset of life
righteous and thrilling.

Thanks you very much, HA!
DeleteThe "feet" lost me a bit, but apart from that, I liked this very much, particularly the last three stanzas. They shine, and I thank you for adding this to the link for my challenge!
ReplyDeleteAppreciate your attention, Fireblossom! Awesome art!
DeleteI can see the "beautiful dancer" who seems to have lived life fully. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteWe all dancers sometimes...Thanks for the comment!
DeleteAll come together to do their part
ReplyDeleteEvery year they do for the birthday to me and you :)xx Thanks for the comment, Pat!
DeleteLike everything about this, the graphics the title, the words. Especially the idea of eternal sleep sometimes...
ReplyDeletelol...eternal sleep in your meaning....when you change the coats automatically, and just realizing...when came back...ah, this is not what I thought I wore...happened to me recently...really got overwhelmed...
DeleteI like the way you identified the many faces.. all could be facets of the same person.
ReplyDeleteYeah, this is what I believe: many roles in different lives... ~ Thanks, Kerry, you came close...
DeleteAll completed their roles..this is the beauty of their life..
DeleteThank you, Sumana. ~ Sometimes we have more than one role, it's hard to choose, which one to follow.
DeleteI sense an actor retiring after playing many parts on stage and off. The tone is one of peace and relief that is celebratory, I think. A good take on the picture.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Love your interpretation of my poem. xx
DeleteYour words took me back, and back again, to the beautiful image. I felt like I was learning about each visage therein.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kim! The art is beautiful!
Deleteso many different masks we must wear at different points of life....
ReplyDeletenice how you capture or touch on so many...
Love your interpretation of my poem. Thanks!
DeleteThank you, Ayala!
ReplyDeleteWe all must lay down the masks at the end--the feel of a tribute here.
ReplyDeleteAll those faces we feel we have to adopt..that middle golden one is particularly haunting..there is a sense of calm at the end of your piece however..or acceptance?
ReplyDeleteI also saw many faces/masks in his awesome art.... love your poem!
ReplyDeletewhen it's finally time to lay down all the masks, it can be a beautiful relief..
ReplyDeleteI specially like the different masks specially the dancer ~ Lovely response to the prompt ~
ReplyDeleteJuxtaposed all the various characters from lands afar is cool! Dancers are a revered lot for they present grace in ordinary movements! Nicely humbird!
