chasing my integrity
I engulf all broken
remains of self
from pilgrim basket
with jagged sorrow…
. . . .
Every sheared sheep
starts over/rushes in
the swirling water
smelling at distance
the huge field
of juicy grass
makes just head swim
building fearful grimace
grows more wool
missing the wise advice:
slow & steady wins…
. . . .
chasing my integrity
I engulf all broken
remains of self
from pilgrim basket
with jagged sorrow…

I think I know a bit about that pilgrim basket. It's a strange little conveyance, it is.

ReplyDeleteI love how you started and closed with the same stanza, full circle.
ReplyDeleteI always feel sorry for sheared sheep. I think they must feel pretty devastated and bare. Thank goodness it can always grow more wool, but in the meantime....brrrrr.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the movie and the piece with a smile. People seem to be writing funny and delightful things this Sunday.

ReplyDelete"from pilgrim basket
with jagged sorrow…
. . . .
Every sheared sheep
starts over/rushes in"
I think the phrase: slow and steady wins is absolutely accurate. Well, according to my experiences. Have a blessed Sunday my friend.
ReplyDeletebroken remains of self in a pilgrim's basket.. it feels like the journey of atonement, especially with the jagged sorrow.
ReplyDeleteThe pilgrim basket might have some hidden treasure that have been forgotten. Mementos of the journey.
ReplyDeleteYep. Slow and steady is most often the best path.
ReplyDeletei guess we attract what we want and what we hate because that's what our mind focuses on subconsciously
