Another day
coffee grind
cup view
shapes…
she’s holding
right hand
trustfully
on the bark of tree
left hand feels the
rose crystals
in the pocket
what is
behind
not so
important
when wild life
comes close
projecting
her fear
she foresee
his shade
nose catering
air shift
ears…
locators of future
arrived to
check her
decision
two black dogs
she stops
with one word
gesture…
she reads:
“Old coffee grounds
make an excellent
facial
exfoliant…"
I can see the two black dogs, and was pleasantly surprised at the twist in the ending............nice to see you, Humbird!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sherry! Glad to post again...
DeleteThis is such a wonderful write!❤️
ReplyDeleteTaking in what's at play, a pup foray
ReplyDeleteWell - I do wonder sometimes if some of the things we throw away (like old coffee grounds) might have another use! You have some very interesting imagery in this poem, Humbird!
ReplyDeleteThere's a relaxed lilt to these 'impressions' that so naturally draws the reader in.
ReplyDeleteI had to smile at the end. Sometimes what we think may be profound turns out to be a simple mundane thing, like your last words here. Good write.
ReplyDeleteBravo! You set up that ending spectacularly.
ReplyDeleteWe can draw inspiration from simple things. Not all are still explored you know :) Nice to see you again, humbird.
ReplyDeleteYour writing drew me along. And that ending is AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed..
ReplyDeleteGood morning. Just poured my first coffee of the day too…
Rose crystals in the pocket are beautiful in themselves
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see you around again! I like the play of impressions following each other.
ReplyDeletemake an excellent
ReplyDeletefacial exfoliant
It might just do that. Dead skin scales may need to be scraped off!
Hank
A most delicious ending, after a real feel for nature!
ReplyDeleteWow! So thankful for your inspiring comments! Nice to see you all! Much Love!
