New York at night Vivienne Gucwa
I saw 2 sides
of the solitary moon
simultaneously
the bright part
svelte & stubborn
has been covered
by transparent quilt
of second one…
I wondered then
how is your prow
never fits wholly
its own harbor,
grasps mine…

ReplyDeletei really like that last bit on the harbor...them fitting in place...in yours....ther eis heart in that...smiles.
ReplyDeletei like the idea of the one part being covered by a transparent quilt... a fascinating image...
ReplyDeleteThe ending part is intriguing, a puzzle to a mystery ~
ReplyDeleteX-ray vision that poetically allows you see the backside etched within the transparency of the front, both side now as Carole King sang about, & Joni Mitchell. Abstract, yet intimate; very nice.
ReplyDeleteThis imagery of two moons is really very interesting.. the first stanza really pulls me in...
ReplyDeleteI like the light and dark images in the poem.
ReplyDeleteSeeing two sides of the moon at the same time is a bit mysterious..interesting image comes to mind.

ReplyDeleteThat last stanza .. leaves me wondering about myself, about harbors and fitting.. Beautiful write!
ReplyDeleteMoonbeams conjure up such delightful imagery
ReplyDeletelove the idea of a transparent quilt- last night I watched the moon slowly inch down through the trees...wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYesterday is stuck on the other side of the moon..maybe it will come back..shed some light..i love the questions and the darkness..
ReplyDeleteThe first two stanzas capture the moon I saw coming home from work on January 3rd--a waxing crescent moon. the crescent so bright that you could see the rest of the moon sitting there, huge on the horizon. Like one moon covered by another, darker one. I am not quite sure of your 3rd stanza, for me it was rather abstract and hard to decipher. All in all though, a lovely thought captured.
